Drama is a wonderful subject and sadly marginalised by the current curriculum. At Roots and Branches I integrate drama teaching into my work as a Forest School Leader and understand the valuable balancing quality it provides to other areas of children’s education. Drama teaching improves children’s self confidence, imagination, empathy, cooperation, concentration, social awareness and aesthetic appreciation to name a few. Areas in which I have worked within the field of drama include mime and movement, developing role plays to look at areas important to children’s lives, imagination and improvisational skill development by skits and lots of really fun drama games that the children really enjoy.
